Enrollment is now open for two online courses: ‘Accountable Officer’ and ‹Equipment Training for Custodial Officer’ offered by the VA Acquisition Academy. These courses fill quickly and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

About the Course: This course is designed to address topics for Accountable Officers and their responsibilities. The intent is to provide an overview of the responsibilities for the facility level Accountable Officer. The responsibilities of every Accountable Officer are vast, and this training covers major areas such as classification of property, the Supply Fund, Equipment Management Program, and Report of Survey program.
Upon completion of the course learners will be able to:
- Identify the responsibilities of the facility level AO
- List miscellaneous responsibilities of the AO
- Identify property categories and classifications
- Define the role of the AO in equipment planning
- Identify the types of items that are inventoried and the associated reports
- Describe the requirements for Equipment Inventory Listing (EIL) inventories
- Describe the use of the Report of Survey Program
- Identify the types of expendable items that are inventoried and the associated reports
- Explain the AO’s role in dealing with controlled substances and hazardous materials
- Describe additional responsibilities of the AO
- Identify the actions required by the AO when personal property is no longer needed or used and has been designated as surplus property for disposal action
Target Audience: This training is open to all GS and WG grade professionals.

Course Information: This is an online asynchronous course in which you are expected to “attend” class by logging into the course, participating in the knowledge checkpoints, and completing the assessment. Further information will be provided upon registration in TMS.

The intent is to provide an overview of the accountability and responsibilities of the Custodial Official related to Nonexpendable equipment, and the inventory process.
Upon completion of the course learners will be able to:
- Identify the accountability and responsibilities of the Custodial Officer
- Identify types of equipment and property
- Define the responsibilities of the Custodial Officer
- Describe the requirements for EIL inventories
- Describe the Inventory Process
- Describe the use of the Report of Survey Program
- Describe the Custodial Officer’s role in requesting new and replacement equipment
- Identify the actions required by the Custodial Officer when personal property is no longer needed or used
- Identify the actions required by the Custodial Officer when personal property is on loan or on trial basis
Target Audience: This training is open to all GS and WG grade professionals.
